Policies To Our Patients:

Emergencies

Some problems, especially emergencies, may be better handle in an emergency room than in our office.  For perceived life threatening emergencies such as chest pain, severe shortness of breath, or serious trauma, call 911 or go to the nearest hospital emergencies room.

Prescription Refills

Prescription refills should not be an emergency.  They should be handled during scheduled office appointments or by calling your pharmacy and ask them to fax us the request for a prescription refill.

Please be informed that your prescription will most likely not be refilled if you have not been seen in our office within the last 6 months.  You must make an appointment for any refill on antibiotics or pain medication.  Please note that being seen does not guarantee that you will receive pain medication or antibiotics.

Refill requests are processed from 9:00am to 3:00pm Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.  Please allow 48 to 72 hours for your request to be processed.

Prior Authorization (non formulary drugs)

In order for insurance companies to save money they have become increasingly restrictive on their drug coverage policy.  Restrictive formularies have gotten out of control in the last year or so.  It is unfortunate that the insurance companies have imposed these extra paperwork and time requests, but we are forced for now to adjust to their requests.  Keep in mind:

We may need to try other medications, even if not preferred by the patient or physician.

If a prior authorization is necessary, there will likely be a longer process time and extra paperwork.  Please allow an additional 48 to 72 hours.

Diagnostic Test Results

Diagnostic tests include (labs, x-rays, MRI, CT scans, ultrasounds, etc…)

To minimize interruptions throughout the day for your healthcare provider, you will be asked to schedule a follow-up appointment to discuss your lab or other test results.   Please allow 2 to 3 weeks before calling concerning test results.  In the event your test results are abnormal and need to be discussed before your scheduled appointment, you will be contacted by our office.

Referrals

Most of your healthcare needs can be taken care of at Tillery Family Practice Clinic.  Whatever the problem start with your PCP, and if a referral is needed we then have the necessary information to process the referral. Please allow 24 to 48 hours to process all referrals

An office visit is not necessary for a change of PCP referrals.

Forms Completion

In general, most insurance companies do not pay for forms to be completed. Therefore it is the patient responsibility to pay in advance for any forms that need to be completed.  Please allow 1 to 2 weeks before calling concerning form completion.  If for any reason your physician is unable to complete your form you will be contacted by our office
